Community Meeting on Nigeria Re-designation as a Country of Particular Concern

About this meeting (Virtual)

We are holding a virtual meeting to discuss House Resolution 220, which proposes the re-designation of Nigeria as a Country of Particular Concern (CPC) due to armed conflict and religious persecution of minority groups, sponsored by Rep. Christopher Smith. At this meeting, we will hear from organizations and community leaders championing this campaign. We will consider both supporting and opposing arguments to help our community understand the implications of this designation to the country. Representatives from organizations advocating for this legislation will be on the call to brief us and answer any questions we may have.

Speakers

  • Emmanuel Ogebe - Managing Partner, US Nigeria Law Group

  • Ndidi Okonkwo Nwuneli - President/CEO, The ONE Campaign

  • Maduka Nkuku - President, Nigerian American Public Affairs Committee (NAPAC)

  • Dr. Malcolm Fabiyi - President, Governance Advancement Initiative for Nigeria (GAIN)

You may have many questions, such as what CPC is and how it affects our community. Join us on Friday, April 11, 2025, at 7 PM EST
