Washington, D.C. — The Nigerian Center has been awarded a total of $106,000 in new grants to strengthen its legal services, civic engagement, and financial inclusion programs for Fiscal Year 2026.

The Black Migrant Power Fund, an initiative of Four Freedoms Fund under NEO Philanthropy, provided critical support to expand the Center’s civic engagement and immigrant rights programming, building collective power among Black immigrant communities.

The District of Columbia Government awarded the Center funding through its CLEAR (Community Legal Education and Resources) Grant and Community Development Grant, supporting the Center’s walk-in immigration legal clinic and financial empowerment initiatives serving underserved communities across the District.

Additionally, the Independence Public Media Foundation (IPMF) awarded a discretionary grant to the Nigerian Center. IPMF’s mission is to move resources within the Philadelphia region toward community-owned media and internet, and to catalyze movements for justice through narratives that educate, inspire, and encourage action toward a more liberatory future.
