Nigerian Center Announces Call for Applications for Inaugural Policy Advisory Council
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Washington, DC. August 19, 2026 — Nigerian Center is pleased to announce the launch of its inaugural Policy Advisory Council and is now accepting applications from distinguished leaders, policy experts, academics, researchers, professionals, and emerging leaders across the United States who are committed to advancing the interests of Nigerian Americans and the broader African diaspora.
As Black immigrants continue to make significant contributions across healthcare, business, education, public service, technology, and entrepreneurship, there is a growing need for a coordinated platform to help shape public policy and strengthen diaspora engagement. The Policy Advisory Council will serve as a nonpartisan national advisory body, providing strategic guidance, policy expertise, and informed recommendations to the Nigerian Center on issues impacting Nigerian American communities.
Council members will work with the Nigerian Center to identify emerging policy priorities, develop research-informed recommendations, strengthen stakeholder engagement, and support initiatives that promote civic participation, economic opportunity, immigration advocacy, education, healthcare, and U.S.–Africa relations.
Nigerian Center encourages applications from individuals with expertise in public policy, government, law, international affairs, healthcare, education, business, technology, nonprofit leadership, communications, and related fields. Emerging professionals with a demonstrated commitment to public service and community leadership are also encouraged to apply.
Applications are now open and will be accepted through the application deadline. Selected members will serve a two-year term and participate in quarterly meetings, policy working groups, and special initiatives that advance the Nigerian Center's mission.
