About the Nigerian Center

The Nigerian Center was founded on a very simple premise: the next generation should not repeat our story as immigrants, and we are here to change that narrative. The Nigerian Center, a 501(c)(3), is a national civic institution advancing social justice, culture, and opportunity for Black immigrants. We work at the intersection of legal aid, cultural diplomacy, financial inclusion, and policy advocacy, shaping the Black immigrant narrative in the United States.

Job Description:

The Cultural & Heritage Program Manager leads the design, execution, and growth of the Nigerian Center’s cultural programming portfolio. This role manages Nigerian language classes, cultural festivals, youth enrichment initiatives, and signature events including Nigerian American Day. The Manager recruits and oversees instructors, artists, and cultural partners; builds strategic partnerships; and develops programming that engages individuals with Nigerian affinity and ancestry. This role blends program management, community engagement, and cultural brand-building to strengthen identity, belonging, and intergenerational connection across the diaspora.

Role and Duties:

  • Design, manage, and scale the Nigerian Center’s cultural programming portfolio, including Nigerian language classes, youth enrichment initiatives, cultural festivals, and signature events such as Nigerian American Day.

  • Build and maintain strategic partnerships with schools, cultural institutions, faith-based organizations, embassies, sponsors, and community groups to expand reach and impact.

  • Serve as a public-facing representative of the Nigerian Center’s cultural work, collaborating on storytelling, promotions, and media engagement to strengthen the Center’s cultural brand.

  • Collaborate across departments to align cultural programs with the Nigerian Center’s legal, financial, and policy initiatives and overall organizational strategy.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in arts administration, cultural studies, education, community engagement, or a related field

  • Highly preferred: Lived experience or deep familiarity with Nigerian culture and the African diaspora

  • 3–5 years of experience managing cultural, educational, or community-based programs
