Digital Storyteller

We’re looking for somebody to help us tell the Nigerian Center’s impact story, digitally!

About the Nigerian Center

The Nigerian Center was founded on a very simple premise, the next generation should not repeat our story as immigrants, and we are here to change that narrative. The Nigerian Center's mission is to promote financial inclusion and social justice for immigrants from Black-majority countries. We educate, empower, and support all immigrant families in making the United States their new home through policy advocacy, cultural programs, legal aid services, financial, entrepreneurship, and homeownership opportunities.

Job Description:

At the Nigerian Center, our 2025 theme is Leading the Culture Forward. We have fully embraced the opportunity and responsibility of stewarding the Nigerian brand story, a narrative that goes beyond recent immigrants in the U.S. to include Black Americans, Afro-Latinos, and Afro-Caribbeans whose roots trace back to Nigeria. As stewards of this multifaceted cultural identity, we are committed to sharing authentic stories that reflect our diversity and the impact of our life-changing programs. The Digital Storyteller will play a key role in amplifying this narrative across our digital platforms. We are looking for a creative and strategic Digital Storyteller with a strong vision for communicating our mission across multiple platforms, with a primary focus on social media.

Role and Duties:

  • Share stories of what is happening at the Nigerian Center.

  • Write clear and accurate copy, create video reels, and still images to shape social media content.

  • Cover events and report on them via social media.

  • Maintain the YouTube channel: edit and upload videos, respond to comments.

  • Create content and monitor feeds on all Nigerian Center social media channels.

  • Execute weekly internal communications across multiple platforms.

  • Work with IT staff to keep website content current.

  • Perform basic video editing and design edits.

Qualifications:

  • Ability to work effectively both independently and collaboratively.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, particularly with a diverse client base.

  • Strong writing skills: ability to keep clear and accurate case notes and records.

  • Familiarity with immigrant culture and experiences will be highly valued.

Application Deadline:

Application Process:

Please send your resume, cover letter, and a one-page summary of your media experience or portfolio samples to info@nigeriancenter.org. Incomplete applications will not be considered. We look forward to reviewing your application and potentially welcoming you to the Nigerian Center team.
